USDF Silver Medalist, Sue Thome

Sue Thome is the owner & head trainer at WinterSpring Farm in Carson City, Michigan.  She specializes in dressage training & instruction at all levels.

Originally from England, Sue retuned for her British Horse Society Assistant Instructor Certificate after attending Porlock Vale Equitation Center in Porlock, England.  Sue achieved her USDF Bronze Medal in 2003, her silver medal in 2009 and completed the USDF L Judge Training Program in 2005, where she graduated ‘with distinction’.  All of her scores for her medals were achieved on horses she had trained from scratch.  Recently, she earned two of the four scores needed for her USDF Gold Medal.

As an active competitor in Michigan and surrounding states at the FEI and national level, she has shown many horses through the levels of dressage.  She spent her first winter in Wellington Florida in 2012 training with her horses.  Sue used the opportunity of being in a dressage “meca” to further her knowledge and understanding of riding, training, and teaching dressage.

Sue is a regular clinician in Michigan and other states.   She teaches all levels of riders and all breeds of horses and has seen many of her students reach their show goals and achieve success.

Sue is a USDF L Judge and judges schooling shows, 4-H and pony club events throughout the region.
